Objectives:

To help the children think creatively about solutions to waste disposal.

Litterbug

Introduction: Begin by asking the children what the landfills may look like by the year 2010. What will we do with all the trash that we generate each year? Discuss some ideas of what to do with all this trash.

Worksheet

  1. Distribute the beginning of the story "Lost in Litter" to each child.
  2. After reading through the beginning, ask them to complete the story.
  3. Have the children share their stories with the class.

Additional Activity

Have each child illustrate their stories to display for Earth Day. They might use their stories to write plays to be presented to other classes for an Earth Day celebration.
